ARMM’s port management authority (RPMA-ARMM) key officials, port operators, terminal managers and cargo handling operators from the base and sub-ports in Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi provinces convened for the executive and management committee meeting on Tuesday, October 11 in Cotabato City. During the meeting, they discussed the results of the ports performance audit which was conducted last August, management strategies and development initiatives in the port sector and various ports projects and programs. RPMA-ARMM General Manager Ersan Imban Warad said they want to improve the institutional capability of the ports to render better services to the public and port users. Warad highlighted also the enhancement of the port facilities and passenger terminals in the region that include the installation of improved security and data information system management. To date, the authority generated a P8.1 million income from seaport operations. RPMA operates the base ports in Jolo, Sulu, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi and Lamitan City, Basilan, and sub-ports in Siasi in Sulu, Maluso in Basilan, and Mapun, Sitangkai and Sibutu in Tawi-Tawi.
