RPMA –ARMM SIGNS MOA ON ISPS STANDARDS COMPLIANCE BETWEEN OTS-DOTC

Cebu City, November 4, 2014.  The Regional Ports Management Authority (RPMA) of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao signed a Memorandum of Agreement between the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) of the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) in a MOA Signing Ceremony between OTS and Heads of Port Authorities held at Bayfront Hotel in this city.

The content of the agreement evolves with the commitments of the Authority in compliance with the International Ship and Port Facility  Security (ISPS) Code of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), including the National Security Program for Sea Port Transportation and Maritime Infrastructure (NSSPTMI) to ensure the preparation of Port Facility Security Plan (PFSP) in each port facilities within its jurisdiction, submission of Statement of Compliance of Port Facility (SoCPF) as strict requirement duly issued by the OTS prior to the issuance of permit to operate a port facility to guarantee continued operations in accordance with state and international laws; and further form part of the port rules and regulations of the Authority within the autonomous region.

GM Hanie A. Bud, in his message earlier during the historic MOA signing in the presence of port officials in the country and USec. JulianitoBucayan, Jr.(Undersecretary for Project Implementations & Special Concerns) said, “We highly appreciate the involvement of RPMA-ARMM in the quest for the observance of security procedures and compliance in all the ports in the country. The ARMM government and the future Bangsamoro Entity shall work hand-in-hand with all the stakeholders in the maritime industry.” GM Bud was accompanied by his two Assistant General Managers (AGMs), namely: Ersan I. Warad, AGM for Admin & Finance and Al-Habson H. Antao, AGM for Operations.

The RPMA was the only government owned and controlled corporation created in the ARMM government under Regional Executive No. 2, series of 2002. The Authority operates and has jurisdiction of all public and private ports/wharves in the five provinces within the autonomous region.
