DSC_0764Davao City, January 3, 2015. During the RPMA 2014 Year-End Assessment, a review of the performance of the Regional Ports Management Authority (RPMA-ARMM) for corporate year (CY) 2014 reveals a record of breakthroughs in port management after one and half decades of devolution to the Regional Government (RG). The port system in the archipelagic sub-region of Southwestern Mindanao was turned-over to the Autonomous Region In Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) on November 1, 1998, pursuant to Executive Order 435 and DOTC-DO 97-1113.

"How these milestone achievements came about is accredited to the reform agenda of the Hon. Mujiv S. Hataman, Regional Governor, ARMM upon his takeover of the regional autonomy on December 2011", Hanie A. Bud, General Manager RPMA, stated. "The challenges that confronted RPMA then served as incentive for us to attain these breakthroughs so essential to the exercise of our corporate duty, powers and functions as government-owned and controlled corporation (GOCC)", he added.

Bud explained that "the catch-up program designed for the year has enhanced the operational and administrative capability of the ports to meet competitiveness in the chain and for the Authority to pursue its institutional prerogatives in the maritime arena. Now we have a rudder to steer our facilities for the satisfaction of our port clientele in the sub-region," he further pointed out.

"CY 2014 saw varied management priorities, as well as, operational and administrative imperatives to address training gaps that would spur ARMM ports to keep pace with modernisation trends currently revolutionizing the global maritime front," Bud concluded.
